“The Lighthouse” Gets Oscar Nod

A film that was shot in the Yarmouth area has received an Oscar Nomination. Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse — starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe — was announced as an Oscar nominee in the Cinematography category on Monday morning. Other nominees in the category include The Irishman, Joker, 1917 and Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.

The film was shot on the Leif Erickson Trail at the Cape Forchu lighthouse property in Yarmouth County in the spring of 2018. There was a temporary lighthouse built on the site, just for the film. Construction on the set started in February 2018. Some of the scenes were filmed on a soundstage in Dartmouth.

The OSCARS air on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 9pm.
