Moonless Sky Tonight

It’s Moon Day, but ironically enough, we won’t see the moon shining tonight! It’s in a new phase and today (around 2:30 this afternoon), it’ll be travelling between the earth and the sun. Since sunlight is only shining on the side of the moon aimed away from us, and the moon is in the same region of the sky as the sun, the moon will be hidden from view everywhere on Earth for about a day.

That said, if you’re still stargazing tonight, that means you’ll see other things easier to see. Like Saturn, which will but visible all night, and shining the brightest as it will all year. Get out there tonight & enjoy it if you can!
