July’s Full Moon

The next full moon is this weekend! Specifically Sunday, July 5th at 1:44AM our time.

The July full moon is also known as the Full Buck Moon, Thunder Moon, Hay Moon, or the Wort Moon.
The meaning behind the name ‘Buck Moon’ is about, as you’d expect…the male buck. July is normally the month when the new antlers on a buck start to appear.  The ‘Thunder Moon’ gets its name because this time of year is when thunder storms are most frequent.

Whatever you want to call it, if you like to stargaze, look up to the sky Saturday night after sunset (in the east) into Sunday morning, and enjoy!
