Hurricane Dorian Damage Assistance

The remnants of Hurricane Dorian made landfall on Sept. 7, 2019. Now, residents on Nova Scotia who suffered damages that are not covered by insurance can apply for Disaster Financial Assistance. Chuck Porter, the minister responsible for emergency management says the damage is estimated at approximately 11 million dollars. The disaster financial assistance program covers the costs of household items such as appliances and furniture, as well as basic repairs that are not insurable and helps individuals, small businesses, not-for-profit organizations with uninsurable losses and municipalities with uninsured damage return to pre-disaster condition.
