Be Sun Safe! It’s Sunscreen Protection Day

The suns rays are getting powerful again, with the UV index at high, or very high most days over the past week. And it’ll only get stronger as we get closer to summer! Today is Sunscreen Protection Day, a great reminder why it’s so important to wear sunscreen.

Besides preventing skin cancer, which is a BIG reason to wear it; here are some other benefits to wearing sunscreen:

Protect Against Sunburn:
Sunlight consists of 2 harmful rays, UVA & UVB. UVA rays are mainly linked to long term skin damage like the formation of wrinkles, and are also associated with some skin cancers. UVB rays are responsible for sunburn, and are thought to cause most skin cancers. Sunburns are painful, and have a direct link to the most deadly types of cancer. Even one sunburn can increase a person’s risk of skin cancer; according to Healthline.

Avoid Inflammation & Redness:
Besides sunburn, too much time in the sun can cause severe skin reddening and inflammation. This is due to ultraviolet rays from the sun damaging the skin.

Prevent The Early Onset Of Wrinkles & Fine Lines:
One of the most effective formulas against developing wrinkles, fine lines, and crow’s feet is sunscreen! Long exposure to UVA rays ages your skin before its time. Up to 90% of visible signs of aging is caused by sun damage. Introduce SPF into your daily skin care routine, and you can help prevent early signs of aging.

Avoid Blotchy Skin & Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation = uneven skin pigmentation. When parts of your skin become discolored or darkened inconsistently. It could be caused by sun exposure, on the face, hands, or others parts of your body that get regular sun exposure.
