“Obi
September 27, 2013- August 6, 2019

Obi’s name meaning is “heart”. He has been the heart of our pride and we are heart broken 💔💔.
It is with Great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our most publicly beloved animals. We know that many of you have followed the journey of his incurable illness since we announced it in November of 2017. He’s had many ups and downs and had managed to maintain good quality and desire for life for far longer than any of us could have predicted. We are thankful for every moment❤️. He reached a point this week from which he was clearly not rebounding and, as we promised we would, we made the heart wrenching decision to end his suffering. He was euthanized peacefully by our veterinarian, surrounded by our zoo family that loved him. We are heartbroken to have lost such a special soul at such a young age. 💔💔
Rest In Peace Obi, you will forever live on in our hearts ♥️

Many thanks to Bruno Baker for capturing this wonderful portrait.”
