APRIL 15, 1912: TITANIC SINKS

It was on this day in 1912 that the “Unsinkable” ship, the RMS TITANIC, sank after striking an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland. Of the 2200 passengers and crew, more than 1500 went down with the ship or succumbed to the frigid North Atlantic waters. The tragedy was eventually made in to a blockbuster movie in 1997 by James Cameron, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane and Kathy Bates.  For an article on the tragedy of the RMS Titanic from The History Channel, CLICK HERE
